About Brooks-Yates School

Brooks-Yates School (BYS) is a unique setting that provides personalized educational planning and services for students with developmental disabilities. Students from all four Pickaway County school districts (Circleville, Logan Elm, Teays Valley, and Westfall) who qualify for PCBDD services are eligible to attend. Placement of Board eligible students at BYS is determined by each student’s Individualized Educational Program team.

  • BYS offers small class sizes of no more than 8 students with 2-3 staff members per class. While at BYS, students receive instruction aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards. They have opportunities for hands on learning experiences at school and during community based instruction.
  • Physical education includes swim lessons at the YMCA, group fitness with the Sports Medicine students from Pickaway Ross, and Dance and movement class with Julie Chafin.
  • High school students have vocational exploration opportunities in many businesses around Circleville.
